Fife Council is the local authority for the Fife area of Scotland and is the third largest Scottish council, managing all public sector activity within their region.
During a routine property inspection for Fife Council, we highlighted a variety of issues that represented a serious health and safety hazards to the public and the security of the property.
Within our report, we advised that the carpark should be closed off, as it was completely open and vulnerable to trespassers and it also contained a substantial amount of drug paraphernalia. It was very clear that this area was an active meeting spot for drug users and represented a serious safety issue.
Fife Council had previously undertaken an internal inspection, but upon receiving this report, the decision was taken to engage Orbis in order to move forward and comprehensively clean and secure the site. This decision was also supported by Fife Councils Insurers.
As Fife Council are highly proactive in anticipating future insurance requirements when assessing and monitoring their portfolio, they required full documentation for each of their properties. Upon completion of the work, we provided Fife Council with a full audit listing what has been undertaken and all the correct documents to ensure that they were compliant with their insurers’ ongoing requirements.
Fife Council has also requested that we rectified other issues that were submitted within our reports to ensure that their property standards actually went beyond their insurance requirements for the benefit of their residents.
