About Clarion Housing Group

Clarion is the UK’s largest housing association, with homes in over 170 local authorities and a legacy that spans more than a century. Clarion not only provide homes but also build them through their development arm, Latimer.

As a business for social purpose, Clarion reinvests any surplus back into their mission: to provide homes for those who need them most.

Meeting our customers’ needs

Clarion employs a large number of lone workers across various job roles, each facing different levels of risk. These workers include field-based staff such as caretakers, maintenance teams and housing officers, all of whom operate in diverse environments with unique challenges. As such, Clarion required a solution that not only ensured the safety of their workers but also catered to a wide range of needs. They needed a system that was both feature-rich and flexible, incorporating dedicated lone worker devices and smartphone applications that could adapt to different roles and risk profiles.

Providing real solutions

Given Clarion’s size and geographical reach, the project presented significant logistical challenges to ensure that all staff were properly trained on the new devices and apps before launch. With staff spread across different regions, it was crucial to deliver timely and efficient training, ensuring everyone was ready to use the system effectively and safely.

Our solution for Clarion included the RedAlert Fob device, a dedicated lone worker safety solution equipped with a roaming SIM card to provide the best possible coverage across a wide geographical area. This ensured that lone workers, regardless of location, had reliable communication in case of an emergency.

For lower-risk lone workers, the RedAlert Welfare mobile app was introduced as a secondary solution. This app offered a range of options while still ensuring essential safety features were in place for those who did not require a dedicated device.

We worked closely with Clarion to successfully implement and set up our lone worker devices and apps for their teams. By providing ongoing support and training, we’ve ensured that Clarion’s staff are not only confident in using the technology but also encouraged to consistently use it. This collaboration has led to an upward trajectory in usage, helping to ensure the safety of all lone workers across the organisation.

Results that matter – Client Testimonial

With such a busy and diverse workforce, we needed a personal safety solution that provided reassurance to our front-line colleagues when working in our homes and estates, whilst being simple to understand and operate so becoming an integral part of their daily routine.

We’ve achieved this with a combination of the RedAlert Fob and Welfare app. The initial and ongoing support from Orbis has been brilliant, and the Sentry customer portal and reporting suite allows us complete oversight and management of our device and fob users and alarm activations.
