Lone Worker Protection – Livewell South West

Livewell Southwest has 1,300 lone workers who face risks visiting patients’ homes and traveling to remote areas where mobile signal is often poor or unavailable.

This case study highlights how we provided a large team with multiple devices to effectively manage their needs and safety.

About Livewell South West

Livewell Southwest is a recognised provider of integrated health and social care services operating across South Hams, West Devon and Plymouth, with additional responsibilities for delivering specialist services to people living in certain parts of Cornwall and Devon.

Integrating health and social care allows their professionals to deliver more efficient care by working together, rather than in separate teams. This collaborative approach ensures that people receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

Meeting our customers’ needs

Livewell Southwest has a total of 1,300 lone workers who face unique risks in their daily duties. These employees frequently visit patients’ homes, where they may encounter risks from the patients themselves as well as from their family and friends. Additionally, many workers travel to remote areas within Dartmoor, Exmoor, and Bodmin, where mobile signal can be poor or even non-existent, further increasing their vulnerability.

Providing real solutions

For employees working in poor network areas, we recommended our RedAlert Fob which is a dedicated device equipped with a roaming SIM card for the best possible coverage. These devices also feature fall alerts and welfare check timers for added protection. For users where signal issues are less of a concern, our RedAlert Professional smartphone application was made available. In total, 700 Fob devices and 600 Apps were provided to their team.

About our RedAlert Fob

We worked closely with Livewell to implement the lone worker fobs and apps, and we continue to provide ongoing support and training to encourage increasing usage. Bi-monthly review meetings ensure that any issues are quickly addressed. The Stay with Me Service has been key in driving usage, with regular training and encouragement, as well as detailed reports to identify users with low or no usage.

Our Stay with Me function offers enhanced lone worker safety. It ensures that employees working alone are monitored and supported throughout their shifts. The feature sets up regular check-ins or welfare timers, providing a simple but effective safety net. If a worker misses a check-in or doesn’t respond within the designated time, an alert is triggered, allowing for a quick response in case of an emergency.

These combined solutions provide Livewell with a comprehensive approach to lone worker safety, ensuring that employees in environments are effectively protected during their working hours.

Results that matter – Client Testimonial

Top reason we agreed to sign up with Orbis was their initial cost and presentation of the device.  Since then, their customer service has been impeccable and are on hand with all queries we, as managers, have but also staff who contact them direct.  They have delivered ad hoc training sessions to both staff and Sentry uses when asked with no hesitation. Both Steve Brennan and Warren Ottaway have been on hand when needed for advice, reports and additional training and are on hand with any queries we as Managers of the Orbis account and system may also have.   I have no hesitation with recommending this company.
