Meeting Our Customers’ Needs

Orbis have hundreds of long-standing partnerships with local authorities, housing associations, and the private
sector who view us as their trusted partner when it comes to protecting and preserving valuable vacant properties in a sale or let ready condition, ensuring they get best price possible when the time comes.

One example of this our partnership with Wates, who provide responsive maintenance services to over 50,000
homes throughout the UK.

We first started working with Wates in 2020, providing a range of services for their recently inherited large backlog of void properties for West Lancashire District Council (WLDC). These services included specialist clearing, cleaning, and repair of properties to ensure that these buildings were quickly turned around and in a high quality condition for WLDC’s new tenants.

Due to the significant backlog, timescales were challenging as we needed to start clearing the backlog whilst also
working on new properties that became available at the same time, all without sacrificing our quality of service.

Providing Real Solutions

Following a full assessment, we began mobilising our teams to handle this new challenge. To deal with the backlog, we employed additional workers from the local area and swiftly began their training, before pairing them with more experienced field operatives. We then agreed a priority schedule with Wates and began operating weekend shifts to ensure that we could cope with all their existing and new requirements.

By expanding our regional team, we were able to quickly bring the backlog of void properties down to a manageable level, whilst also dealing with recent void properties. Due to periods of heavy rain throughout the winter, we were also asked to assist with repairing a significant amount of flood damage as well as providing infection control services.

Results That Matter

Wates’ properties were quickly turned around to a very high standard before handing them back to the client for relet. The success of this partnership is due to our ability to react quickly on a local scale, and offer our clients complete flexibility to any given situation
