Summary

  • The company needed a lightweight, discreet device to provide their staff with the confidence and peace of mind to be able to operate efficiently within their day-to-day roles
  • We provided Bolton at Home with our RedAlert Fob devices to provide staff members with 24/7/365 support, whatever the situation may be

Meeting Our Customers’ Needs

As the largest Social Housing provider in their Borough, Bolton at Home have 450+ members of staff who work alone on a regular basis. Due to their diversity of services, there are numerous job roles within the organisation that require lone worker protection including tradespersons, housing staff, caretakers, delivery drivers, wardens and 24/7 responsive teams.

Due to the complex needs of their customers and the risks associated within their estates, staff will often encounter challenging situations on a daily basis. Their primary challenge is dealing with violent and aggressive situations, both verbal and physical, that cannot be defused and often require emergency intervention.

Another challenge from a management perspective is ensuring that staff have adequate resources should they ever fall ill whilst lone working on the job.

Providing Real Solutions

Bolton at Home required a cost effective, reliable solution to their lone worker needs and staff members were particularly impressed with the lightweight, discreet size of the RedAlert Fob device along with the ease of operation. Bolton at Home issued the device to members of their staff across the company, with regular review meetings taking place to ensure that the device continues to suit their needs. As part of this ongoing review process, the company is also trialling our RedAlert mobile App amongst their staff.

Our ARC (Alarm Receiving Centre) team support any Red Alert activations with an immediate emergency response, but on occasions when staff may just feel vulnerable in a situation, they can speak to our team under our ‘Owner Concerned’ feature which enables our ARC Operator to stay with the user until they feel in a safer situation. This helps to reassure staff members that our team are available to support them 24/7/365 no matter what the situation may be.

Our online Sentry Portal allows Manager’s access to all aspects of their lone worker team including device utilisation, user information, activations and downloadable reports, which are vital for managing and maintaining the safety of their team.

Brad Smith, part of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Team at Bolton at Home had this to say about our RedAlert lone working service –

“The service suits our needs as a social housing provider as the devices are efficient, fairly simple to use and the user-guides are more than adequate for a user to understand without the need for a training session – although Orbis will provide these if requested. From a management perspective, the Portal is userfriendly.. If you can use Facebook, you can certainly navigate the Portal without any training!

The fall detect system is a fantastic feature that provides peace of mind should a medical incident occur when an individual is lone working.”

“We are very pleased with the devices as they do exactly what is expected, the software is very user-friendly, the GPS tracking function is precise, and the call handling response is phenomenal; virtually all of our activated alerts have been responded to within 20 seconds.

Also, the service Orbis have provided us is second to none; all of their staff are very helpful, knowledgeable and polite. Emails/phone calls are responded to very quickly, and I don’t think there has been a single instance where our Account Manager/Orbis advisors haven’t been able to help.”

We have provided Bolton at Home with a lone worker service that gives their staff the added confidence and peace of mind to be able to operate efficiently within their day-to-day roles. High-risk jobs such as these are just one area where we can help to make a real difference.
